Polish-Japanese Friendship Foundation NAMI
is pleased to invite for:
the 3rd Japanese Culture Festival in Wroclaw NIHON NO NAMI 2019 (日本の波 literally: Japanese Wave).

Many events (performances, workshops, exhibitions) are combined in:
– short time: September 6-7th 2019 with additional rakugo program on Sunday
and
– one place: IMPART, 17th Mazowiecka str. .

This year's festival makes part of the celebration of
the 100th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Poland and Japan.

Concerto of the traditional and contemporary Japanese music – unusual meeting with Japanese music by Nozomi Kanda and Ritsuko Takeyama playing koto – considered Japanese national musical instrument or Japanese harp.

The main performance of the Festival with the appearance of the mistress of the dance school Hanasaki-ryu, Tokijyo Hanasaki and the artists performing in the Japanese National Theatre.

Tickets – 30 zl for the double ticket for child with parent | Kodomo no nami – Japanese Theatre-morning for Children

Performance for children of the age 6-12 years (the younger children, should be accompanied by their parents).

In the four acts corresponding with four seasons:
– we will paint with big brushes with the help of Sayuri Goto - Japanese calligrapher,
– helped by modern samurai we will learn courage, dexterity and the ability to cooperate,
– Takako Tikagawa, ikebana (flower arrangement) and kitsuke (costume) artist will help us prepare for the coolness of the autumn,
– rakugo actors, Koharu Tatekawa and Ichidō Ryūtei will teach us to lough together.
Japanese melodies will connect the seasons. Basic Japanese phrases will come to our minds naturally.

This will be the fifth rakugo performance in Wroclaw. Koharu Tatekawa is one of the small number of female rakugo-ka. She has performed in Wroclaw with master Ichinosuke Shunputei in 2016. Except of acting she also sings and plays shamisen.
Ichidō Ryūtei is a young talent of rakugo. We will watch him debuting outside Japan.

Sayuri Gotō (後藤 さゆり), calligrapher and calligraphy teacher, from 10 years in Europe. She comes from Kumamoto on Kyushu, the city of her teacher, Tansō Moriyama.

KABUKI-MOJI | Art of advertising with calligraphy on theatre posters | Shinju Kawada

Edomoji (or ‘Edo characters’) are used for advertising starting with the Edo era. Shinju Kawada (川田真壽) represents Kanteiryū (勘亭流) - one of the schools of Edomoji which created the style for kabuki posters.

IKEBANA | The art of arranging the flowers | Takako Kitagawa

Takako Kitagawa (北川パ 貴子) Japanese florist and stylist, will present the traditional Japanese art of flowers arrangement – ikebana. The price includes the flowers and materials. You can take your composition with.
